i just downloaded my sunday long run. then i pulled up the graph to see how i did last week; turns out i ran 26 miles. a little more than i expected.
since september '06, or 5 months ago, i have only once exceeded 26 miles in a week (one time in december). rather embarrassing but i thought that would provide some perspective.
sunday's long run was close to 8 miles at 9:03. not monumental but nonetheless, that is where i'm at with the "long" runs! i think i will bounce back quickly though.
the night prior, on saturday evening, i ran 4.2 miles in 36:30 (8:43), followed 2 hours of watching gopher hockey whereby i consumed
3 chicken wings drenched in mild sauce,
and
3 nak7d tenders that i dipped in "Caribbean Jerk" sauce.
i was sweating bullets!
this is not the recommended, balanced (carbo) meal eh? my legs were a bit sore on sunday, and that run was a little tougher than it should have been.
the talk around town (errr, at least within my small social circle), is becoming the get-in-gear-10k, which takes place on april 28. this will mark the 3rd anniversary of my first ever official race! i'm trying to rope in some more new participants this year. meanwhile the crew that i convinced to run last year has been marking their calendars and zeroing in taking steps to at least match last years result.
that is fun to watch. i can't wait.
spring is coming! spring is coming!

I didn't know the Get In Gear was your first ever race! That's pretty cool knowing that it was mine too. 2nd anniversary here I come!

Brent, you survived the winter, now it's time to get serious again. And yes, you will be able to build up your long run (and mileage) quicker than you have in the past.
