last post before race day on saturday! booo, i wish i could flush out some more thoughts throughout the week. oh well.
things on my checklist for saturday include:
--trying to remember what it felt like to be tired and worn out during the last 6 miles of the 'thon. remember what its like to keep going even though it hurts, because you want it. conjure up those feelings of exhaustion and attempt to run run run the 10k until i feel exhausted, and then keep running some more.
--what pace should i try to run it? i've messed the calculators online. we'll see i guess.
--lots of moving parts to this race. some open ended things on my mind right now include: all of my worlds colliding at one race. co-workers that i convinced to race will be running, old friend/new running buddy, mom and sister possibly watching?, girlfriend watching, might bump into some local bloggers from the rbf (hopefully!), co-workers girlfriends watching, possibly running the first mile or two --or more-- with running buddy (how will that work?), and then after the race nearly all the worlds will collide when we meet up for lunch...or will they? how will i get to the restaurant? you have to take a bus to the starting line. i live too far away from the race to shower. i'll be stinky; maybe i can sit at a table by myself? should i skip it? too much for my brain to handle.
--what am i going to wear? it might be cold.
--should i wear headphones to block everything out?
--how late am i going to work on friday night? will i carbo load anyway? how will working all of the hours this week affect me?
who knows. it'll work itself out.
this morning the scale went to the next set of numbers. yeah. (eg from the 540's to the 530's type of thing). but then i kind of pigged out a little bit today. its ok, i'm still focused on my goal. its going to happen. things are going well with the SBD, even though i'm not following it strictly.
i want to start lifting, possibly in mid-may? or june? May seems busy already. i'm flying down to stay at the gf's parents house over memorial day weekend (whew deep breaths). also helping my brother move the weekend before that. oh, and mothers day is also the weekend i'm helping my bro move (i'll be driving a huge Uhaul for about 100 miles, yikes). my girlfriends birthday is in the beginning of june. so is our 6 month.
i bought her a card tonight that i will send her tomorrow. not for any specific reason. we usually see each other a couple times during the week but i'll be too busy this week (so will she). so i thought i would send a card to say hi. she's basically done with her master's thesis woohoo!
how was that for some rambling. now i have to iron everything for tuesday - friday because i'll be too tired later in the week. catch you on the other side!

You're such a nice boyfriend! Can I send the guys I've dated to you for lessons? Good work on the numbers moving. The 530s is a great place to be. ;)

Brent, have a great race. It doesn't look like I'll be there this year - not even to watch.
Try not to get too distracted. Remember, we're doing this for "fun."

Good boyfriend points ... very thoughtful!
Have a great time at your race. About the worlds colliding ... no worries. I used to worry more about that kind of stuff, then I just realized, that adults basically take care of themselves and (sometimes unfortunately) interact mostly with who they know best. And they're all there to support you! All the best!

definitely been there with the worlds colliding, and worrying about it...but you can't afford to worry about it! they're all grown-ups, they'll all be fine...cross that worry off your list. You're there to RUN your race. No distractions!
i would hesitate to make definite plans afterwards; just see how you feel.
did you train with headphones? if so, bring 'em.
get some sleep on friday!
and p.s. don't forget to smell the ..other athletes?
