and on the 17th week....
my right nipple hurts like a bastard right now. after 17 blissful weeks of running every saturday long-run in dry weather, which is simply a miracle now that i think about it, today it rained!
not a vicious downpour, more like a slow steady rain. its all good though! but combined with a brisk breeze, 65 degree temp, no sunshine, and being soaked line a drowned rat, it was kind of chilly out there.
so i guess we had a bit of an appearance from the nipple! heh. nothing bloody but i bet if i had run another few miles i would have been darn close to the bloody stage.
i will use the band-aid trick on race day but today was 9 miles which is well within my no-bandaids-needed distance (unless its raining and cold i guess).
i ran the final stretch of the marathon (excluding the last 1.2+ miles). the hills weren't so bad but i'm sure after running 20 miles already, the hills will be more painful. but its nothing like big sur (from what i hear) or any of those other big hilly courses.

you can see my pace was somewhat steady, around 10:00. i kept saving up for the big crushing hill but it wasn't so bad. on race day i'm sure i will be cursing every incline though.
now i'm gonna rest some.
one week from right now, it'll be the final evening before the big day!

Just get rid of your right nipple. You don't need 2. Come to think of it, you don't even need one! :)

They make products specifically for nipples (and I don't mean piercings, although that would separate the shirt from the skin). You could also try some more serious adhesives (duct tape comes to mind). If those don't work, I can suggest some other things.

Or you could run with no shirt.

I suggest using bodyglide on anything you don't want chafed on the special day...bandaids can come off with enough sweat.

*grins* no shirt...
Time has flown by and your training gone very well. I can't wait to say 17th week.

I agree ... take your shirt off!
I can't believe the big day is only a week away, you sound ready. Looking forward to hearing all about it and how you flew over the hills at the end.

There were actually two men and two women that ran the Baden Marathon that I ran here in Germany with no shirts. They were part of the local Art societies bodypainting contest. They ran in G-strings (the guys) or shorts (the gals) and running shoes and that's it (okay one gal wore a baseball cap)! And that with the temperature hovering around 4C/40F.
For those who prefer to run with our shirts on, bodyglide or vaseline can spare us from a trail of blood and tears.

get the small circular band aids. those work wonders. not sure what drug stores you have around you, but longs drugs has the latex free generic brand ones. those seem to stick better than the band aid brand or 3m.
