Poignant Irrelevance

yesterday i did another circuit routine.

one of the things i love about spring is the first big waft of freshly cut grass, enveloping the nostrils and filling the soul with hope of a new season. it makes me want to roll around on the ground like a kid.

it is so warm here right now that i experienced a very slight, yet noticeable waft of the grass on a boulevard along my neighborhood running route. mmmmm mmm.

today i ran 2.2 miles. not much but hey. i remember this past summer when i considered the first 5 miles to be a warm-up. hehe. anyway, the run felt good and i will continue with increasing the miles. i hope it stays warm!

that is all the news for now. well i guess if we want to talk about my diet lately, we can. it has been ok but not great. the quality is probably below average, i admit, but the number of calories has not been too excessive.

the other thing i haven't mentioned but i'm sure you have figured out, is the delicate balance of juggling a new relationship with making time to run and lift, work all the time, and everything else, etc. tricky!

  • yay for cut grass! that's one of my favorite smells.

take your sweetheart with you on your runs. if she can't keep up, have her ride a bike!

  • maybe the "new relations" would be interested in training for a race with you?? just a thought to incorporate both.

  • is it spring??? It's JANUARY!! you must date a runner, or someone willing to become one!

  • I LOVE the smell of cut grass. I second Jeff's idea - run together, if you can do it. It took me a LONG time before I'd exercise with Bucko even in the house, and that's after 22 years of marriage. It's a new level of intimacy, I guess, when you're willing to let yourself be seen all sweaty and gasping and red-faced (besides in, you know, the usual circumstance for that behavior...)
