(No)Pudge?
i was going to write this tomorrow but nobody is posting their race reports, and i'm bored out of my mind. come on people, i'm freakin' bored. donde esta those race reports eh? Jeff does have his gun time posted though....he's so fast nowadays i think the soles of his shoes must be melting away. dang that dude is fast.
and because i'm bored this entry might end up being 500 pages. i might write this post for hours and hours. and hours.
i did some research on the internet in order to find a new place to run today's 6-miler. guess where i ended up? the stomping grounds of my 10K race. apparently there are nice 3, 6, 9, and 12 mile loops that all center around the 10K race area. cool...i'll probably go back to try the other loops as i work up the mileage.
i parked my car and walked around the "starting" grounds. unexpectedly, i was grinning ear to ear. that was a great day. i honestly thought the next time i'd run this route would be at next year's 10K race. oh well, i guess i'm practicing for next year already. ha!
today was a little different story. my belly was full of a half a pan of no-pudge brownies and a s0uth-beach-diet frozen meal. not the best scenario. hehehe. Rebecca mentioned this no-pudge phenomenon so i blame her! i've never made brownies before this! they were ok but i think for people like me they need a warning on the bag that says in very plain english, "this is no-pudge unless you eat the whole thing in one day ok stupid?"
today was hot and muggy. not like the 40/50 degree race-day weather. i'll never complain about 40 degree running weather again.
i ran most of the way in a dirt path that was next to the paved trails. it was a very skinny dirt path though, about the size of a motorcycle tire. tricky.
i remembered exactly where i saw the hottest girl on the course. i remembered how hard the hill seemed. i remembered the one section where it was too crowded to pass people. i remembered crossing the bridge, when i was thinking "i'm almost to the finish line!"
today was different though, it was just me and my pudge putting in a training run. i finished 6.2 miles in about 1:07. i'm ok with that, i wasn't trying to race or anything. not sure what my splits were, i wasn't paying attention to those. i hope everyone else had a good run this weekend!

great run!
Ya know, it's not the RACES that kill me. It's the TRAINING that sucks. Race day is great--lots of people, excitement, music, etc. But training--when it's just you and the road--not a whole lot of excitement there.
I actually used to do some of my training on the part of race route (simply because it was a good training area, not because I wanted to perfect that part of the route). When I ran that portion of the race, I thought back to the many grueling hours of training I did on that very same road and thought, "running this today, race day, is such a breeze compared to those damn lone Saturday afternoons!"

Ya know Brent, everytime I saw a girl at yesterday's race, I wondered if Brent would think she was a "hot girl"...lol.
PS - Karen has her race report up and I have the spectator's version.

Good job with your long run. Just think...all your training will pay off in a few months.

great run, despite the full belly! and about the indulging in chow and feeling guilty...remember that each day is a new opportunity to succeed.
