And it begins...
Week 1 baby! As April Anne mentioned in a previous comment, my week 1 begins this week! If I want to follow Hal's M schedule for my own race, this is it. Technically, Tuesday is the first run. And so it begins! There is no more leeway in the schedule now. There is no turning back. This is it man. Journey for the first ever M starts here. I'm on the clock.
----
This morning I ran a slow 2.5 miles or so. I went to scout out some new short routes around my place. I found one that was ok I guess. I'm embarrassed about how tough this 2 miles seemed but maybe I can blame it on poor water and fuel consumption over the last few days? Whatever the case, this was one tough 2.5 mile run. Yikes. I might do some elliptical action tonight. I'm thinking of doubling up the workouts for a few weeks to zap myself in the butt. Zap! Snap out of it dude. I think my mind is in the right place to begin this journey. I'm ready.
Edit: I ran again tonight because it was so nice out. I managed to run for 14 minutes. Ouch, my lower legs hurt. Sort of above my ankle and around the shin area. I walked home.

PS, Cassie is very close! Don't forget to cheer her on now. She's on the home stretch. You can do it Tiggs! :-)

good luck, brent. we'll all be pulling for you, and holding you accountable! don't think for a minute we won't be watching your every move! =)
one thing about the schedule, if you miss a day, don't try to make it up, just pick up where you left off and start back with renewed effort.
we know you can do it and are excited to be along for the ride!

hey thanks for the mention- only a little over 4 days until the big M-Day!!! AHHHHHH!!!! :) I'm nervous and excited!
Good luck as you start your own training. I followed Hal's plan to the letter for my first half marathon back in January. I didn't do any extra workouts, just exactly what he had listed and I finished in 2:14. One minute under my goal time of 2:15. Can't wait to read about your progress!

Try icing down after your runs to see if that alleviates your discomfort. (Go Brent, go!)

Yay Brent! First week. How fresh, and exciting. And, if it makes you feel any better, I've had plenty of runs that were one or two miles long that felt like pulling teeth. It happens! Can't wait to cheer you on during your marathon training...

“doubling up the workouts”? Are you crazy? Just stick with the training schedule and I am sure you will do great! Good Luck! The RBF is behind you all the way.

Way to crank it up! Train like it's a long race: take it easy getting started to find your pace. Play with mileage as you get stronger. Your legs and the rest of you will be very happy.
