self-diagnosed once again
i am so NOT tired right now. 1am. i've been reading a lot about stress fractures of the tibia. or is it the fibia, i can't even remember anymore. i can give myself any disease if i read about it long enough on the 'net. looks like now i can even give myself a stress facture. i'm talented like that. i rarely go to the DR. (once every couple years?), but when i do...i'm the guy that reads up on every possible thing i might have before my appointment, and then i quiz my doctor on his diagnosis like i am some kind of expert. even though i have no idea what i'm really saying to him.
i've been performing weird hopping tests around my apartment. i've been pressing and prodding my leg. i've been icing it. i even had to look up the word dorsiflex. so on and so on.
i guess i have to take a ton of time off if i have a fracture. great! i am almost afraid to even do the elliptical at this point. stupid internet!!!!!
one thing i am for sure not imagining is that my shin still hurts (the last time i ran was on thursday). its like this dull pain. oh who knows.
bottom line, i am going to give my shin some rest from running. preferably until it doesn't hurt anymore. what a novel idea.
p.s. i passed the hopping test but then i read on a running forum where a guy had a stress fracture and he passed the hopping test too. umm, i think thats my cue to shut off the internet before i diagnose myself with all sorts of funky injuries.

i was thinking shin splints too! i laughed at loud at you diagnosing yourself - i do that too! I hate paying doctors for what I can find on the internet for free......try tiger balm it fixes almost everything!

Do you ever find that the more you start to read the sicker or more problems you think you have. Self diagoning can be a dangerous thing...lol.
Hope what ever it is, isn't too serious.

Heh. I've self-diagnosed myself with syphilus before. And malaria. None of which were remote possibilities, but when you start reading medical information, especially information about rare diseases, at least for me, all hell breaks loose. Your newer posts indicate you're running again, so I'm guessing the shin problem resolved itself without an emergency shin operation. Yay!
