Poignant Irrelevance

man i have been running low on sleep for the last week or so. one primary factor is that i still have training sessions left to use, plus its marathon training season! originally i thought i could use them all up before M training.

its been hard to balance the two. plus its mentally taxing to be thinking about the push / pull of both programs. one builds up muscle and involves lower body lifting, the other is a sport in which those with the least amount of muscle seem to avoid injuries and perform the best. know what i'm sayin'? not like i'm competing professionally or anything but you know me, i analyze so much crap in my mind all day long and this is one situation i think about.

plus there is generally limited availability on when you can schedule your sessions. tuesday / thursday work best for me but those are not always available. factor in rest; with 2 sessions a week plus marathon training, i don't think my muscles are really getting enough rest. oh well, these are very small problems to be dealing with in the grand scheme of life.

on a similar topic, wedding planning is pretty tricky! i am helping out, because we are shooting for october and it just helps to have 2 people setting things up and making phone calls.

date picked? check
church booked? check
pastor available and willing? check
reception site booked? check
catering figured out? no, but contract in the mail and then we will survey the options
do things seem expensive? check
did someone tell us $4 per person for the cake was a decent value? check
if we decide to order a cake and 200 people are able to attend, will the cake cost at least $800? check.
do things seem expensive? check
flowers? not yet
dress? she seems close
music figured out for ceremony and/or reception? no
photographer picked out? no, but she narrowed it down and we are ready to make calls
i think we have 5-10% of the whole thing figured out. oh well, we've been engaged for less than a month.
have a good weekend dudes.

  • do not skimp on the photographer. get someone good with a good portfolio. see if you can get a pre-wedding shoot and post-wedding (post honeymoon?) shoot out of the deal, too. the photos turn out great when you don't have the added stress of the big day surrounding the shoot.

good luck! oh, and just in case you didn't know, weddings are expensive these days.

  • i'm getting married in 2 months, and yes, they are expensive, but we're doing a lot of things ourselves, and i still haven't found a photographer.
