coming up for some air

i managed to get to the gym tonight. i ran 3 miles on the treadmill in about 28:30? i have a feeling the calibration on my polar needs to be checked. i don't have access to a track though. i'm pretty sure its off by a little bit. anyway...

i threw in some faster intervals during the last mile of 7mph for 5 minutes and then 8 for another 3 or 4 minutes before cranking it back down to 6 for the remaining time. overall the 3 miles felt fairly easy. when i was done i felt good rather than all pooped out.

then i got on the stairmaster---the one where the actual stairs move. crap thats hard. i think i settled on level 8 and i kept it up for about 10 minutes before i quit. dang thats hard work. my HR was 160 - 165 so i was putting in some effort.
here's the HR readout of me on the stairstepper for 10 minutes:

i feel like i'm coming up for some air lately. the beginning of a relationship is very all-consuming. days and nights all bleed together. for what seems like months and months.

which is not all bad, but my normal schedule was thrown completely upside down. when to eat, drink, lift, run, do laundry, stare at the wall, blog!, it all gets turned on its side for a while. i plan to establish a routine of running on tues, wed, thurs, saturday. and at a minimum: lift on sunday, monday and maybe wednesday? that will help to keep me in check.

we are going on a little spring break vaca in a couple weeks, that should be fun. i will try not to wear white socks with my flip flops. ha ha!
