what was that twinge?
i still haven't run yet since last sunday. i think i am being a total wuss. maybe later tonight i will get out there. once in a while i will feel these weird twinges in my left leg, sort of like the twinges you feel in the week leading up to the race.
"wait i think i felt something.....nah, can't be"
*press and poke calf muscle*
"yeah screw it i think maybe something is going on there, no running today!"
ha. wuss! the truth is i am sort of afraid to run again right now. i'm a little afraid to run on the ankle that was swollen. sometimes it still feels a little weak. if i don't run today i will for sure run this week. my book says to do a reverse taper to build the miles back up, and that if you are under 40 years old, you will need 1 day for every mile of the race to completely recover.
thats a 4-week reverse taper.
my bro's bro in-law ran a 3:45 at chicago. his gf did just under 4:30 (her first). not bad!! i bet they are pumped. i hope to hear some stories about how it went at some point.
my hardcore strict diet starts tomorrow (monday). i haven't been eating TOO poorly but yeah i had some candy yesterday. i had some cookies too! its not that satisfying to eat crappy food though, i'd rather run fast.

Brent,
I have been reading your blog for awhile. (ok maybe a month) Great job. I love this post b/c I'm starting training for a 1/2 marathon in March and right now I'm in shin splint/hamstring hell. It's nice to see all that you went through training for a marathon.
Love your blog.
