hitting on all cyclinders
i had so much fun on my run tonight. i ended up doing my 7 miles in 70 minutes; slowest mile was 11:09, fastest mile (mile 6) was 9:29. i hope you will all soon be able to enjoy a few days of the cool weather we have been having here.
there were so many people out by The Lakes tonight. i believe this is the first time i've run over in that area at night (and during the week). rather than go to lake nokomis, i went to lake calhoun and lake harriet. i counted 30-40 people on the paths always within my view--walking, running, blading, biking. 3 miles around each lake so i'm guessing several hundred people! plus folks playing volleyball, softball, etc. i really felt like i was on a college campus. everyone just seemed so happy and everybody was exercising! it was a great vibe.
last year you could not have paid me to run over in that area, even on an early weekend morning. i was too intimidated. its all a mental thing though, i just don't care right now. meaning, i don't care where i run or who sees me, or what i look like, and so on. hmm that didn't come out right, its not that i don't care what i look like or where i run but you know what i'm saying right? i think it also helps to have a purpose for the running; i like following the schedule. no need to plan it out, just do what the schedule says.
i took a few pictures during the run...

hey just just looked through my polar running journal and this is by far the fastest i've ever run 7 miles while training! and let me tell you it feels so good. woo! the first time in my life i managed to run 7 miles was on july 29, 2004. but then the NEXT time i ran as far as 7 miles was on february 19, 2005. a big gap! but THEN (hehehe) i should mention, i've only run 10 miles or more all at once 5x in my life. my furthest ever run was last saturday (the 13). and THEN, one time at band camp,
uh i think i got carried away. sometimes i just want to talk about running for hours though. anyway, good times, i'm feeling fine tonight.

OOOOH pretty. I love the pictures. I assume you have a camera phone? I used to never get why phones needed cameras, now I am completely convinced they were created for runners. GREAT job on you 7 miles. Isn't it fun to accomplish new distances?! I think that's been my favorite part of training. Also, if you don't mind me asking, what part of the country do you live in? That lake (?) looked so pretty!

"hitting on all cylinders"
is "cylinders" your new term for "hot chicks"?
