under the light of the night
late run on the streets/sidewalks tonight. left the headphones at home. nice change of pace without that noise. cool night, quiet, not a lot of traffic. good stuff. i saw my chi-form under the light of the night though and it is a sad sight.
on those long runs when i'm sticking to the little dirt path next to the paved path, i typically yield to the oncoming runner. i figure they are probably a lot more serious than i am so i run around a tree to break up the monotony of the run, or stumble up a hill while i veer off the path. frankly, i am just happy to be running so trying to play chicken to see who gets to stay on the dirt path is just annoying at times.
however, i have noticed on my last 2 long runs (my first attempts at long distance chi running), the oncoming traffic is peeling off the dirt path as soon as they catch sight of me. i mean, i can be a quarter of a mile away and people are giving me huge clearance on the favored dirt path. tonight i believe i saw what they see. it is one pathetic sight. do you see what i'm sayin'? heh.
i must look like horrible. its kind of a hobble with a mid-foot plant. oh well. i suppose suppressing that certain urge to "take care of business" surely had me in a very concentrated state this past saturday. oh well what can you do. now i am starting to wonder if it is the powerade? the mystery is ongoing. my body is so rarely thrown off therefore this recent disturbance in the force has me in a quandry. i'm such a dork.
one of the best parts about my run tonight (can you believe it?), ahhhhhh refreshing.

I am jealous of your night runs. That's the main thing that sucks about being a woman - that sense of fear of running at night by yourself. ANYWAY, it sounds like you are making a lot of progress, Brent. YAY!!!!

Lucky, lucky to have that temperature for running. I've been trying to get up at the buttcrack of dawn in the hopes of cooler temps, but around here it's already almost 80 and humid by 6 am. Bah!

Maybe you look really cool and fierce, and they are trying to get out of the way of you because *you* seem a lot more serious? Maybe you are *that* cool?

Night running? hmm. I think I would like that, since one of my favorite things about running early mornings is the solitude, the silence.
