at the expo, i walked up to the table that had all of the pace bands. i asked the lady, "are these free?". she responds, "yes. do you know what these are?"
granted, i don't look like a runner, but come on! i have my race packet with me which means i've probably logged 400+ miles to get to this point. geez. oh well, not a big deal, but i thought it was an interesting question to pose. if i was 6'0 and 165 lbs soaking wet, something tells me she wouldn't have asked me if i knew what a pace band was.
ok, moving on (sort of). without responding to her question, i asked her for a 4:20. originally, i had no plans to wear a pace band this time around but i'm at the expo and its free!
after walking around for a while, i noticed a yellow lanc7-armstr0ng-style pace band. cool! they were $5 but some of the proceeds went to a charity, so i bought one. what a cool idea...here it is:
-----------------
----------------
here is the website. i don't know how many times i will actually refer to it, but what the heck.
at the expo, i also purchased a new marathon hoodie. i decided not to purchase the poster because i don't like it. i can always order one later if i feel the need eh? they were also giving out free cotton gloves to keep warm!! awesome, now i can chuck them without guilt.
weather update: now it is supposed to be "unseasonably warm". its supposed to hit 70 by noon vs. the average high temp of 66. as long as its not humid though, i can deal.
health update: who celebrates their health within 7 days of the marathon and then comes down with a cold inside of 3 days to the starting gun? yeah, go me. i've been fighting it for the last 2 days in particular. you know when every time you sneeze, a big pile of mucus lands in your hand? heh.
but i've made it this far, i'm not going down without a fight. i have no idea what to expect in terms of how the lungs will respond. maybe it won't affect me much or maybe it'll have a big impact, i'm not sure. who knows! maybe i will take in a little more water than i had planned.
see you on the other side dudes!!!

Those are pretty cool pace bands - I'll have to check that link out.
Good luck tomorrow! I should be out there somewhere, and I'll be rooting for you!! Hope the weather cooperates for you - you deserve nice weather after last year.
(You didn't say anything about it, but be careful about taking any decongenstant, as they have a dehydrating effect. I found that out the hard way once. Maybe bring along a bandana for a snot rag?)

It's all that kissing making you sneeze!
I love that pace band, awesome idea. I remember ripping my off last year, this one I might actually want to keep on.
Good luck tomorrow! You are going to do great.

Since they're free, you should have asked for a 2:30. that'd shut her up.
Good luck! I can't wait to read about it and see the pictures!
