5 Mile HR Readout

This was my 5 mile run from yesterday. It says 4.7 but thats because I jogged for a warmup and forgot to turn on the HR monitor. I think I did about 2 miles at 5.3, and the rest of the run at 5.5. No speed records being set here, kind of embarrassing. Thats ok though, I hope to look back at this and see my progression.
This is what it said before I left for the gym..

This resting HR is about 10 beats higher than it was last summer. Everything was last summer eh?

  • hey meta. the way it figures out the speed is still a bit of a mystery to me. it uses some sort of technology called "inertial technology" which polar claims is used "in aerospace positioning and guidance systems..." "The inertial sensors measure the acceleration of the S1 foot pod more than 1000 times per second (yeah you wear this food pod thing on your shoe but you can't feel the weight) and use this data with advanced algorithms to calculate foot angles and gait velocity the Polar S1 running speed and distance sensor is NOT A PEDOMETER. Instead, it is very advanced running speed sensor." --Polar.

I haven't calibrated it yet which is recommended but still, this thing is so spot on with the treadmill speed, its amazing. Cool outside too because since it does not use GPS, you never have to worry about buildings or trees messing up the readings.
