VISUALIZATION
many successful athletes visualize their outstanding performance, before the game begins. the ball leaves the quarterbacks hands, screaming down the sidelines like its on a rope, its traveling over my shoulder, it looks out of reach but i dig deep and accelerate, stretch my fingers out, the ball hits my hands, it feels sticky and i cannot let go, i tip toe both feet inbounds, game over.
i think visualization can have a place in the game plan of the everyday joe schmo (jane schmo too). i have tried it a few times over the past week.
i visualize when i get up, how even though i will feel tired, i will go to the gym and accomplish my goals little by little. i visualize what i eat, i anticipate how i will handle challenges at the office, presentations, tough questions, etc. i visualize on the treadmill or the elliptical, as though i'm at the race and i'm pushing through the challenges. pain, strap on my back, i will get us to the finish line.

elliptical- 40:00.

later on
took a little jog on the 'mill tonight. the polar doesn't lie, the slump has set me back a little but i don't care, i'll get it back. although there is no way my HR got to 220, wouldn't that mean i was dead or something? i pushed it toward the end but even so, i spent most of the run in the 160's which is at least 10 higher than it was toward the end of the summer. bleah.
