the subject of today's entry is:
I HATE LACTATE THRESHOLD WORKOUTS
it must have been in the mid-80's tonight, and the air was a bit thicker than one would prefer. schedule called for 10 miles with 5 at 15k race-pace. for me thats about 8:26 (according to mcmillian calculator, using recent 1/2M result).
it went down like this:
10:05
9:26
9:24
9:29
8:17
8:17
8:40ish (stopped for drink at the fountain)
8:21
8:52 (wuss)
10:38 (cool-down)
10:23 (~0.2 mi)
---------
10.1
i basically wanted to steal a bike from a child in order to get home, rather than jogging back. there are a couple of reasons this was a tough run for me: 1) i don't know what it feels like to run 8:20 miles so i had to continually check my watch and adjust my pace which is kind of annoying, 2) my quads started to burn, it was hot out, it was an uncomfortable pace! hehe.
dang i'd rather run slow for 3 hours.
i was supposed to do this run on monday night but of course i ended up having to work real late. now i have no more room for flexibility for the rest of the week! on tap: 4, 11, 7 with more speedwork, 18 = hopefully 50.
