still?
i kept checking my result on the web all day long. is this normal? heh. i also keep thinking maybe they made a 5 second mistake. ha ha.
a 69 year old woman, and a 61 year old woman beat me by like 10 seconds! ha ha, that is awesome! i love it. also, a 70 year old guy beat me by 6 seconds. that is so cool. i remember seeing him at the finish just ahead of me. just another reason why running is so great. all you need are two feet and some shoes and away you go!
i was in such a great mood today. i just ran a race! soon reality will set in and its back to the daily training grind. but today, i just sat back and reveled in this little thing i did.

Revel away, Brent...you planned, you worked, and then you did it!

What's more insane is me checking my email every 5 minutes. Congrats again!

Brent,
Congrats on the 10K! I'd have discouraged you from going after the marathon so soon, but you've committed, now you have to make it happen. I took an gloating over a race result - I got my sub 3:30 marathon to qualify me for the Boston Marathon. You're about to learn that running a decent marathon is a very tough task, not so much in the race, but in the prep. I'd tell you that to do a reasonable job, you must train 40 miles a week or so. That may or may not be in your abilities right now (you can finish on considerably less, but the result will differ substantially). Try to run a half marathon soon and understand that the marathon is about 4 times as tough. Good luck, and let me know if you have any questions.

scooter, that would be so unlike you to discourage someone from running a marathon. can you sense the sarcasm? ha ha. we are operating on different wavelengths man. i'm the guy who finishes, not the guy who got a decent time. i will be sticking to hal's plans but i will definitely be tapping in to your expertise along the way....see you at the finish line!

Is this the "runner's high" they talk about? So happy for you. Maybe you should do another race sooner than October!

Brent,
Just wanted to make sure you knew that the difference from a 10K to a marathon is huge. Go to it, but understand that if you're underprepared, you'll pay like never before.

Brent- you CAN do the marathon. Before I started my marahton quest I ran 2 5ks, 2 10ks, and one half marathon. That half marathon was this past january and I started training for my marathon 23 days later. Now it's only a month away. It will be tough, but I'm ready and you will be too. The training can seem brutal, but you'll do it. One step at a time. It won't be long until you post your marathon race report!

Congratulations on the 10k! Awesome.
You can do a marathon. Don't worry about how fast you do it. Just put in the training and you'll be successful!
