Poignant Irrelevance

no further exercise updates prudent to recap this weekend. oh well, sunday nights seem like an opportune time to update the blog anyway.

we kept a low profile this weekend. the most "exciting" thing we did was go shopping one day. heh. watched olympics with some of her friends on fri night, shop sat., lay around and watch tv on sunday.

sunday we went to church together for the first time. i think it was good, maybe a little overdue. nonetheless we went, and i'm glad we did. it won't be the last time we go. we have some things to talk about in that area, but i won't go into the boring details here.
------------------
i really want to participate in the upcoming 25th anniversary of the twin cities marathon. really, really. yet i have a gut feeling / instinct that this summer is not the right time to dedicate myself to marathon #2.

do you ever get that gut feeling about your training? whether it be a gut feel that THIS is your year to train and compete in the xzy event, or that timing isn't right?

i have decided to run in the 10-mile race that the twin cities marathon hosts. i think the gun for the 10-miler goes off a little before the marathon (on the same morning) but i'll have to check on that one. this way i can still be around all of the energy and also participate in some of the fun!!

i plan on running a heck of a lot this summer though, but i doubt i'll build up to 20 miles. its just not my summer for that type of thing. at least thats the way i feel right now. anything can change.

i'd like to work on cutting weight. i might buy a house and all sorts of other things will be going on. marathon #2 is just not going to happen for me this year. that doesn't mean i can't train hard and run a lot though. more later on this line of thinking.

good night. tomorrow morning begins my travel----be back 3 or 4 days. i'm so tired right now.

  • hey man! good luck with the "all sorts of other things" you're vaguely alluding to!

  • can't wait to hear what all you have planned for the summer. i bet your gut knows best how to balance life + training. do they have a half? prob not since you mentioned a 10 miler.

  • wise choice, b. that new relationship deserves the attention that marathon training would demand. you're young, you've got so many races in your future, but this is the only time you'll get to experience the beginning of a relationship. good call.
