amphipod inauguration

the temp this morning: 64 degrees. nice. by the time i was done it was in the low 80's but still, i had some primo conditions for most of the run.

i've had 10 weeks to experiment and i'm telling you, as soon as i hit the pavement on saturday mornings, i know exactly how well or how poorly i've been eating during the week. what you eat every day leading up to these runs really counts. your body will remember! mine does anyway. i can't cheat very much during the week or i'll have payback on saturday's. i did well on the eating front this week, and today i felt good out of blocks.

actually i felt STRONG today, baby, STRONG. after 10 miles i felt like nothing! like i had walked to my car or something. i just love that feeling, its so amazing that you can train your body to run. and run and run and run. i have plenty of areas for improvement but i think i'm seeing progress and that feels good.

mile 14, 15, i hit the wall. not too badly but i know i need to work on exactly when to take the gu shots. today i had one at 8.9 miles (because the water fountain was convenient) and then i never took my last one. maybe i should take the second one at 12 or 13 next time? hmmm. what if you don't feel hungry? i guess i will take it anyway. now i'm just rambling. i hope everybody gets in some good running or biking this weekend (tiggs).

check it out, i bought an amphipod thing on friday and wore it today. i remember alison talking about this a while ago but i didn't see them in my running store back then. good for: car key, gu shots, money. i've jammed my car key into my running short pocket before but i always feel like it might escape. not anymore! amphipod, rules. it fits just inside your shorts. so lightweight its invisible, and its not going to fall off trust me.
