A Ride

we were in the car, next to each other in the back seat. somebody else was giving us a ride because we were away from our home. she reached out her hand, and i took it. it was really warm. it seemed to fit into my hand perfectly. when our hands touched, the warmth of her sent a buzzing sensation through my entire body. she smiled at me. she had really white teeth, little dimples in her cheeks, and sandy blond hair. her smile made me smile. i could not see anything else but her smile. i reached up my hand to touch her cheek. it was really warm. she tilted her head ever so slightly. as the car pulled up to a building, we turned to look. somebody we both knew was carrying out a car seat with a little baby in it. it seemed to make us smile wider. we put the car seat in between us.

then i woke up. i had this dream this morning. i wanted to write it down. i never remember my dreams, maybe once or twice a month. so there you go, a stream of (un)consciousness right from my dream brain! back to your regularly scheduled programming. i won't be updating as much this week; i'm sure you will all be relieved not to get daily updates for a little while heh.

  • I rarely remember my dreams. The back car ride those is a memory I remember of my past bf though - our first backseat ride and it was fun, different because neither of us had to pay attention to the road, just the conversation, our smiles and our hands holding one another's. It is a sweet memory :)

  • As a self appointed Dream Expert (tm), dreams come from the same part of the brain that controls emotions. Because of that, most dreams that involve emotions tend to be really strong. I've woke up crying many times (usually involving a family member dying).

Just be glad you don't remember dreams like this every day (like I do). Imagine going through emotional rollercoasters every night. :-)

  • Maybe it was more of a vision, than a dream.

  • Good Luck with week seven. I know you can do it. Just think of the 12 miler as two small six mile runs.

  • Brent, you're good at this. I liked the poem, I liked the story about the rainbow, and I like this.

That shot of the teeny tiny dirt path is hilarious. I can just see you tiptoeing down it, trying to stay on the dirt and off the grass.

  • That was really pretty. I thought you were writing some kind of prose poetry at first.
