gaining while training

the movie Garden State is a little weird. natalie portman is in it therefore you will be able to get through to the end (very easy on the eyes) but otherwise the story was a little weird in my opinion. the writing was only average.

it is all becoming clear to me now how a person could gain some weight while training for a marathon. this is the first week where i found myself having a couple more of those, maybe one of these, one more of those, all in the name of the number of calories i will burn during my extra longer than normal run. must not do that anymore. must do a better job tracking what i eat. must eat more fruit, veggies, and h20. work stress up, healthy eating down--i see a direct correlation.

i am so weary tonight, i think this was a long week and next week will be a little worse. but then it will be much better!! i'm a party pooper tonight, i'm going to bed early and then doing my run in the morning before the official weigh-in type thing. i've been thinking about quitting the official diet but we'll see. i just want a couple normal meals like stir fry, or chicken breast strips, or stir fry with chicken breast strips, or a big chicken taco. with hot sauce and sour cream and lettuce and hot sauce and chicken and cheese and lettuce and hot sauce and cheese and sour cream enveloped by a big soft shell and like maybe one more taco after that.

  • i really liked "Garden State"...but then again, I really enjoy the more "inde" films too. I get so sick of the same ol' same ol' mainstream movie themes...it's refreshing to have a change of theme now & again. lol! i love your description of the taco meal you're craving. oh, and YES, it's most definitely possible to GAIN weight while training for a marathon...most people don't understand that concept, but it's very real. :)

  • All you've got to do is keep your eye on your weight while you're training... which I didn't do, and before I knew it, I stepped on a scale at the gym and gasped to see that I was ten pounds heavier. I'm usually pretty consistent, but now I've started to pay more attention to the scale. A big burrito with all the trimmings is fine the day of your long run, but don't be fooled like I was into making every day a big carb party! ;)
