Yep, got the whole tourist set! So, why is it so bad to "look like a tourist"? (Yep, word will spead among everyone in New York, "Look out for this guy - he let himself look like a tourist." And all the models down in the 20's moved away from whatever area he's prowling at the time!)
Your playground shot reminds me of the hamster cage I saw at a friend's house, complete with a little wheel house for exercise. New York is another country. People ignore you so they can endure the density of the population. If they ignore you their world is not so cluttered.

the part about trying not to look like a tourist--when i'm with my associates i try not to embarrass them (too much), hehe.
